Sam Conway is the owner of SamConwayLTD Firearms Training. Sam is a Firearms Instructor with over 29 years’ experience. 

 

Sam started teaching with the United States Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) Instructor Group in 1991. In 1992 Sam was invited to be a founding member of the USAMU Action Pistol Team, shooting USPSA, Bianchi, and The Master International Championships.

 

After leaving the USAMU in 1995, Sam joined the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) as a Firearms Instructor teaching advanced level firearms training to County, City and State Law Enforcement Officers.

While there Sam created a 40 hour Tactical Rifle Instructor Course based on the M-16/M-4 platform. Courses Sam conducted included Semi-Auto Pistol Level I and II, Shotgun Skills, Shotgun Instructor, Counter Sniper Level I, Tactical Rifle, Tactical Rifle Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Judgmental Use of Deadly Force.  

 

In May of 2002 Sam received a position at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) as a Firearms Instructor teaching Federal Agents all aspects of firearms. While there, Sam created a 40 hour firearms program entitled “Pistol Skills Enhancement Training Program”. This program is designed to help problem shooters when qualifying with their service weapon. 

 

While at FLETC, Sam was a member of the FLETC Pistol Team shooting NRA PPC. As a shooter for the FLETC Team, Sam achieved the rank of High Master, is a Double Distinguished Badge winner in Revolver(#710) and Semi-Auto(#224) , tied 2 National Records and a member of the 1490 Club.

In 2001 Sam self-published his book “The Shooter Approach to Practice” a book of specific drill to improve the Shooters skill sets.

 

Sam was an independent contractor since leaving FLETC in 2008. He has worked for the US Navy as Firearms Instructor at the USN Center For Security Forces Expeditionary Combat Skills School, and The US Department of State on the World Wide Protective Services Program. 

Sam currently works as a Firearms Instructor at a large Federal Training Facility in New Mexico.
